Stephen A. Pyhrr is a Senior Managing Director of Kennedy Wilson and is the senior executive responsible for Kennedy Wilson South division activities including investments, asset and property management, brokerage, and market research. Prior to that, he served as president and CEO of Southwest Classic Properties, a multifamily and land development company in Austin, Texas. Dr. Pyhrr received a M.S. and Ph.D. in Real Estate and Finance from the University of Illinois, where he also completed undergraduate studies in finance, and is a graduate of the School of Mortgage Banking at Northwestern University. For over 18 years he taught as a Professor of Real Estate and Finance at The University of Texas (Austin) and developed its Bachelors, Masters and Ph.D. programs in Real Estate and Urban Land Development. Currently he serves as the Executive Director and was a Past President of the American Real Estate Society, a 1000-member international organization of real estate researchers and educators. He is a member of the International Real Estate Society, American Real Estate and Urban Economics Association, Urban Land Institute, Pension Real Estate Association, and Real Estate Council of Austin. He served as past president of the Austin Commercial Real Estate Society and holds a Texas real estate license. Dr. Pyhrr has written three books on real estate investments, and co-authored others, including the advanced textbook Real Estate Investment: Strategy, Analysis, Decisions which has been used extensively in senior level undergraduate and graduate business school programs in the U.S., Europe, Asia, and the Pacific Rim. He has written over 60 articles and papers on real estate cycles, investment and risk analysis, development, and portfolio management. He has served as a member of the Editorial Boards of the Journal of Real Estate Research, the Journal of Real Estate Portfolio Management, and the Journal of Real Estate Practice and Education.
